Piebald is a pattern, not a poor representation of the breed. It has
absolutely nothing to do with the Dachshund's conformation. I think the
piebald pattern is unique and attractive. Why is a piebald dachshund less
of a dachshund than a dapple or a solid? It's not. Keep the piebald in the
standard or you will be losing some very high quality dogs in this breed.

My “little brother” is a piebald! Not only does he posses the typical personality of the Doxie, but he is also very sound in composition and a wonderful representative of the breed “standard”. His coloring makes him different, noticeable, and memorable and he is a great ambassador for his breed.

AKC~ LISTEN UP…THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR “PIE”!

The DCA and the AKC are doing a very serious injustice to the Piebalds. To eliminate an individual standard is ludicrous. If certain DCA board members have no respect for the Piebalds then it would probably be to every ones best advantage to have an election for new board members. After all DCA stands for DACHSHUND CLUB OF AMERICA. This title does not mention the exclusion of certain dachshunds.

I currently do not own a dog but have always owned large dogs, however, looking at the pictures of the Piebalds I would actually consider owning one. They are a beautiful breed and should not be left out of dog shows. I think the
competition would be fierce with their breed entered in it!

There is absolutely no reason to keep the Piebalds out of the standard.
Piebalds, like every other pattern are beautiful dogs.

One may think that there are certain decisions that have to be made and certain rules that have to be followed so that the integrity of any breed standard remains intact. I guess some people have to sit down and make decisions as to what can be considered acceptable and what cannot. Still, the decision to remove the piebald pattern from the dachshund breed standard sounds pretty much like subjective viewpoints instead of decisions based on adequately supported facts.

I must have missed some information on the newsletters posted here because I cannot imagine such a big decision being made without any concern for the people who own these dogs. As a piebald owner, I'm left to guess as to why PIEBALDS shouldn't be considered standard. What caused this change in the breed standard? Is there some recognizable reason for the exclusion of this pattern? Why is the color white so undesirable?

I've always thought that the AKC was an institution that cared for the dogs and their breed integrity, but I've never thought that it cared so little for the people who love dogs and who had their dachshunds simple disregarded as standard.

I want AKC to know we want Piebalds to be part of the Dachshund Breed Standard. I think they are very pretty and nice little dogs.

Please don't take the beautiful piebald pattern from the dachshund standard! I have hopes of showing, one of my home bred pies, in the future. To not allow them to show, or compete, is a great injustice!! The Pies are just as much a dachshund as the solids, brindles & dapples....all are equally loved !!
The fantastic thing about the dachshund is the great variety....
PLEASE don't take the Piebald from us!

There are many nice piebald champions who have worked hard to receive their titles. It would be a shame to eliminate the piebald from this breed. I love my pie’s and would like to see more in the show ring.

I breed piebalds and any other color that is listed on the AKC registration form. I don't know who thinks they have they right and duty to ignore what the original breed was made of. My past experience with some judges and AKC personnel is that they feel its their duty to try and tell others how to live their lives and set rules that they feel are to their use or liking. I will always vote to keep what has been before and if asked of most breeders, not just some club types.
Piebalds Forever!!!

I can hardly believe that an arbitrary decision is being made to exclude this beautiful pattern from the AKC and DCA standard. These lovely dachshunds should should be allowed to compete in the show ring.

Although my Hannah (lighter colored doxie w/white patch on neck) is not a piebald, her mother is. The picture you are looking at is of Hannah (@ 3 months old) & Oatmeal (@ 5 1/2 yrs. old). Piebalds are just as beautiful as any other patterned dachshund! Hail piebalds!

I don't want piebalds to be taken out of AKC. They are one of the prettiest dachshunds I know. There are a lot of people that ask for piebalds. Many breeders would be lost with out the piebalds in their kennel. Not having piebalds is like Nascar not having Chevys. Dachshund breeds will go downhill without the piebalds in my opinion.

I love my piebald doxies! I have 2, but all of my doxies carry for Pie. This color is a rich part of the Doxie Make up. Save the Pies!

We want to save the piebalds, we have beautiful "correct to the standard" dachshunds that should be in the show ring, and want to have the opportunity available to us and our buyers.
Thank-you and God bless,

I have a friend who raises these beautiful creatures and they have won a spot in my heart. The unique patterns make them a spectacular dog and to end their "membership" in the club would be horrid. I vote to keep the Piebalds!!!!!!!

I do not understand why AKC would want to do away with the piebalds in dachshunds. Is not this pattern the standard pattern in most hounds. Take the beagle, basset hound, foxhound, harrier, and all the other breeds with this pattern, Do they plan to do away with all those dogs to? Save the Piebalds.

To eliminate the piebald pattern from AKC'S standard would be an absolute shame. Some of the most all around beautiful dachshunds I have ever seen have been piebalds!! Piebalds play a huge part in dachshund history. Someone please tell me how any other dachshund can be "better" than a piebald in the show ring because of color or pattern? I happen to be the proud owner of four piebalds myself, and I cant imagine my breeding program with out them. And I don't think the show ring would be the same with out them either. Please do not take away the ability to show our beautiful pies to the world in the ring!!!
SAVE THE PIEBALDS!!!

A forever dachshund owner
Please save the piebald. All dachshunds should be treated as equal. I have owned two smooth B/T, a wire B/T and now have 2 wire piebalds.
The piebalds add real “color” to the breed. Conformation to the breed standard is what counts – color should not forfeit the right to show.
