We own a dapple mini and we're waiting for our grandkids to bring home their new Piebald mini. What are you thinking? There are already so many breeds that have almost been lost due to indiference and some that are gone forever! I myself (Ruth) have freckles am I any less human? Do I not "conform" to the human race because my skin is Spotted. You are willing to accept new breeds but toss out colors. Thank heaven you don't have the authority to judge humans!

I am not a breeder nor do I show dogs but think the Piebalds are beautiful. What does the color of the dog have to do with anything? I've seen lots of Piebalds who are champions. Please do not do away with them. I have a friend in Canada who has lots of Piebalds that are champions.

As long as dogs are bred for health, temperament and structure ,colour should be of little importance.

Our piebald, Maverick, is the most wonderful dachshund ever. We have had black and tans, a dapple, and now a piebald. Our next dog, should we get one, would definitely be another piebald. Of course they must be saved and recognized! Our piebald has the sweetest nature of any dog I have ever owned, and people are fascinated with his markings.

I’ve had dachshunds my whole life (though not Piebald). They are all so wonderful regardless of color or markings. I will happily sign your petition.

I own a Dachshund, not a piebald and think they are beautiful. My daughter is very artistic and thinks their patterns are gorgeous. Please let them compete. Thanks!

Why would anyone want to get rid of this amazingly cute colour? It adds character and distinction to the wonderful breed of dachshund. Piebalds rule.

A wonderful friend and companion Oliver

Zero is my friend's piebald and is one of the coolest dogs ever! Just
because the piebald pattern was introduced in England after the German
standard was set is no reason to discriminate against the patterning!

We believe in live and let live, each to their own, etc. why do we need to do away with a pattern just because few selfish people don't like the pattern? I want to add my name to this petition to save the piebald pattern. Thank you.

I totally agree with all the dachsie owners who submitted their vote to save the Piebalds. There is absolutely nothing unpleasant with the Piebald pattern. I don’t own a Piebald, but I do own and love my dachsie, Good Golly Miss Molly, who was born January 6, 2007. Miss Molly is a fun, determined, and intelligent dog -- common traits in all Dachshunds. There is absolutely nothing unpleasant about the Piebald pattern. STOP the prejudice. Recognize this pattern as a standard and allow the Piebald to compete in any AKC or DCA competitions!!! After all, a Dachshund will always be half a dog high and two dogs long, no matter what color or pattern!

How can you look at this face and think I don't belong competing with all the others? How unfair to think that anyone would want to exclude the piebalds.

Please save the Piebald's. My daughter Kathy Phillips has a beautiful piebald.
I had a Red one years ago and she was nice too. Stewart has a special
look and I adore him. He is unique.

I would like to sign the petition.
The piebald dachshunds are just beautiful & should not be
discriminated against. There are no health issues in producing this pattern like the double dapple.
I have piebald carriers & hope to have a piebald in the future.

It is my desire to add a Piebald Dachshund to our family in the future.
This is discrimination. This makes no sense at all.

There's always someone that will try to tell others what we should enjoy. My Extreme Pie was named "Ticked-Off Punkin Jacko," 2 years ago. Little did we know then that his name would be justified. The nerve...

I don't own a piebald YET but I want one so bad and I will definitely get one one day!! I think they are adorable and no way should they be banned from any shows or anything!! I hope you don't mind me sending picture of my two dachshunds. Riley is my black/tan spoiled rotten boy who is 3 yrs old. Pookie is my 1.5 yr old blk/tan dapple longhair (abused by previous owner) who we loved dearly but has so many issues (damage done by previous owners). I was looking for a piebald to buy when I found her and when I discovered she was abused, there was no way I wasn't going to buy her and get her away from them; I thought I was going to find her a good home but we fell in love with her and I knew she had to stay with me and my family!!
SAVE THE PIES..............

I adore my piebald and also feel she is a beautiful example of the dachshund breed. One of the amazing things about a dachshund is the variety of colors and patterns they come in.

There are many, many unhappy piebald show breeders that have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours improving the breed of piebald dachshunds. I, along with many others, feel abandoned by AKC that they were more than happy to take our registration money, but let this new standard be passed. AKC only supported the parent club, DCA, and did not look out for everyone else's best interest. I feel a great injustice has been served.

The last paragraph of the Dachshund standard states "The foregoing description is that of the ideal Dachshund. Any deviation from the above described dog must be penalized to the extent of the deviation keeping in mind the importance of the contribution of the various features toward the basic original purpose of the breed." I believe the key words here are "Any deviation from the above described dog must be penalized to the extent of the deviation keeping in mind the importance of the contribution of the various features toward the basic original purpose of the breed."

The importance of the color (contribution) of the dog has absolutely nothing to do with "the basic original purpose of the breed". They were bred down from French Bassets which have the "piebald" pattern look. So to me, that would be one of the main characteristics to look for in the true Dachshund.

I think we should have a "Piebald Club of America"...anyone up for a good fight?

CH YNot's Solar Eclipse MWP - finished in May of this year

UPDATE:
I just wanted to let you know my girl YNot's No Boundaries MWP got a 4 point Major this past Saturday (November 17, 2007). Someone got mad and went to the AKC rep. The rep told them there was no disqualification in the Standard and that the Judges are to judge by the Standard and no other document.
So we got one for the PIEBALDS this weekend.
She only needs one more Major to finish.
