There is nothing more untoward about this pattern than brindle, dapple, sable ... in the sense their work is done underground, how does color or pattern impact their ability to perform? The breed will not collapse nor hearts fail by letting these dogs compete. For goodness sakes, look over the fence at the Newfoundlands ... are Landseers excluded? Please be big.

We love pie! I see absolutely no reason to discriminate against piebalds. Their pattern has no bearing on their structure, health, or ability to do their job. I will continue to purchase piebalds for my breeding program, and I will continue to breed them...period.

Locking out the piebald pattern in the show ring is not looking out for the betterment of the breed. What does color/pattern have to do with form and function? Are we going to have to stop breeding the piebald pattern as well? I am a proud owner of 5 piebalds and several more that are carriers of this beautiful pattern. Please save the Piebald!

I have two piebalds and they are both beautiful. My husband and I breed for blue and tan piebalds. I don't think there should be any difference made in the piebald than any other color dachshund because they too can be great show dogs or just great companions.

It's an injustice to the dachshund breed to not include Piebalds in the Standard!

White body color was part of the original Dachshund Standard recognized by AKC in 1935, need I say more! Education of ALL breeders, judges, and the public in regards to the health risks of double-dapples and white-headed piebalds IS the answer, NOT the elimination of mentally and structurally sound AKC Registered Dachshunds, some already AKC Champions, from the gene pool.

I vote to save the Piebalds!
I own three dachshunds and I think they would like a vote in this too. There is nothing wrong with the Piebald dachshund coloring. They are very beautiful and I hope to add to my household in the future and I think I would love to have one. Go Piebalds!!

We love our piebalds - Dream A Dream has been producing a line of piebalds for the last 6 years and we absolutely adore them, as do our customers. I just couldn't imagine my breeding program without Rowdy, our most requested stud. The piebald pattern is truly a remarkable addition to the dachshund standard and we hope it will make its way back into the show ring.

We love pie!!! we have 4, there is absolutely no reason to discriminate against piebald. Stopping people from showing them in the show ring is wrong. The color has nothing to do with the form or function of the dog. The color or pattern is just that, if the dog has good conformation it really does not matter what color or pattern it is. And picking one pattern out and black balling it from the ring, is just wrong.

The problem isn't with the piebald pattern, the problem is with the people that are trying to take them out of the breed standard, because they can't or don't appreciate their natural beauty and ability just like any other color or pattern in the dachshund breed. Piebald patterns are a big part of this breed and have been around since the late 1800's. They are part of the dachshund history, and that history should not be eliminated. So PLEASE save the PIEBALD pattern.

Thank you for this opportunity to sign this petition.
sincerely Sherry Scott

My Espresso's daddy is a piebald. I think they are gorgeous and just because of the pattern they SHOULD NOT be DISMISSED.. its like being racist. I think they should stay.

Piebald should definitely be considered as much a pattern as any other, as it is in so many other dog breeds. It is a gene naturally occurring in the breed, and has no defects attached to it. One of the great things about dachshunds is the great variety in colors and coats. People stop me all the time to tell me my dogs are the most beautiful dachshunds they have ever seen!

My pies and carriers are the best competitors I own. I find it appalling that the pattern would be excluded from the show ring. If judges were more educated they would realize that this pattern does not distract nor hinder the ability to do just what they were intended to do! Mine are excellent hunters and were born that way, requiring very little instruction! Point and click, and they are on it! The fact that most judges are white does not make them poorer quality judges, does it?

Even though I am not a breeder anymore and trying to place most of my babies into homes, the piebald pattern is so beautiful and I have personally seen champion piebald dogs. They are gorgeous and their conformation is fantastic! I have a black and tan piebald, and an issabella/tan piebald. I have attached pictures of them. They are characters!!

The color of the dog in no way indicates the quality or health of the dog or the dogs ability to do its job. There are many excellent representatives of the breed that are piebald. I cannot imagine my breeding program or my life for that matter without them. They are wonderful. It is my honor to stand up for these beautiful representatives of the breed....Marie
