Please add my name to your petition. I think the piebalds are a beautiful ADDITION to the breed selections. So many people in general are unaware of the beautiful options of this breed of dog, and many think of dachshunds as only the black and tan or red. Some don't even know there are longhaired ones, much less wires, boars or piebalds! Instead of sweeping them under the rug, it would be helpful if the AKC would showcase the variety and amazing colors of the piebald!!! Call attention to their existence by allowing them to be seen and shown in all AKC shows.
I firmly believe that you can't just wipe out an entire line of pedigree simply because it doesn't match the desired pattern of the year. Piebald dachshunds DO exist. They are beautiful mixes of colors and patterns and a great joy to those who own them. They are not flawed or defective. I believe wholeheartedly that the AKC would be well served to help breeders keep the beauty and conformity in the breed instead of banishing it from the show arena. If you declare the piebald "persona non grata" you are losing a great deal. Further, you might ultimately be the cause of the destruction of countless puppies, the "dumping" of dams and sires and cause financial ruin to breeders who specialize in these beautiful puppies.
Please keep the piebald as a show standard.

I think that the piebald pattern is such a beautiful and unique breed of dachshund and it should definitely still be considered by the AKC! I breed on a small scale and have one piebald and he is an exceptional breeder that produces beautiful puppies! It would be a shame to loose such a wonderful dachshund patter. Don't let the piebalds disappear!!! Brandy

Save the PIebald Dachshunds:
I am the owner of four dachshunds,
one is a Piebald: Whizpering Wynd or Whiz for short.
All of them are AKC registered Dachshunds, Light Red, Wheaton, Black and Tan, and Piebald. The color does not make them a dachshund it is the character of the dog's body shape.
That would be like saying a chocolate lab should not be recognized and only the black or golden labs will be acceptable.
