My husband and myself are home breeders of piebalds, black and tans, & dapples and we enjoy them tremendously. The piebalds are very loving and beautiful. WE just gave a piebald female to our grandson and he was so excited that he did not want to open any other presents. She had 2 beautiful blue eyes and there wasn't anything wrong with her sight. She was mostly white with sandy brown areas with brown (light and dark) spots on the sandy brown areas. This effort of the AKC to eliminate piebalds from their list of acceptable dogs just goes to prove what I've always thought of the AKC, which is that they have their noses stuck up in the air so far that they fail to see the beauty and personality of the different colors of these dogs. The world is made up of so many beautiful colors and God chose to show some of his colors in these beautiful dogs.

HOW GOD MADE DACHSHUNDS

God made a little dachsie
to brighten up our day
He took a bit of sunshine
Laughter, love, and play
and rolled it up in a sausage shape
just right for a hug,
with bright eyes full of mischief
set in its little mug.
With little paws a pattering,
to take it here and there
and a cold wet nose but then He thought,
"Oh, what about the hair?
Shall I make it long and silky,
or wiry, that's so sweet,
or make it simple, and have it smooth
and satiny and neat?
And what about the color?
How can I pick just one?
Shall it be black, or red or brown
or dappled, just for fun?"
He pondered while He made the world,
And all creatures great and small
And then the answer came to Him
"OF COURSE! I'll make them ALL!!"
So remember that a dachshund
is special, from above -
His coat of many colors
is a sign of God's great Love.

Interesting that AKC thinks Pies should no longer be a standard and shouldn't be able to be shown. Dachshunds are a type of hound, there a lots of dogs in different hound classes that are just like the piebald, there description is listed with 3 colors, white being one of them. The other colors are tan, brown, black, bluetick, redtick, fawn, red, etc. The piebald color is just as beautiful as the other types of dachshund colors, they should not be penalized, and dis-qualified. AKC needs to listen to the many people supporting the piebald color.

I think Piebalds are a very beautiful addition to the Dachshund breed. I love their colors and patterns. They are quite honestly my favorite by far! Piebald pattern has no bearing what so ever on their structure, health, or abilities! - I thought we were about bettering the breed? How does this better the breed if we lock them out? - They make great pets, and best friends to my little children, even my Pit Bull loves our Piebald! YAY FOR PIEBALDS!!!

I think that the piebald Doxies are some of the most beautiful there are. I don’t see why coloring should cause them to be excluded, especially such beautiful coloring. I don’t have my Dachshund yet, but I’m searching and hope to find a piebald!

I am deeply distressed to hear that someone might not accept the Piebald Dachshunds as an acceptable breed! I myself have four Dachshunds two Chocolate/Red Dachshunds, a Dapple Dachshund, and a Piebald Dachshund. My Piebald is just as much Dachshund as any of the other three! Full of life love and energy! He is such a sweet boy and his type of Dachshund should not be cast aside by someone just because they themselves prefer a different marking. Piebalds are just as beautiful as the rest so they should be included as such! Keep them in as part of the standard!!! Just because they can't speak up for themselves when you discriminate does not mean to say their loving owners and companions won't!

I breed dachshunds mini chocolate & tan wire and smooth hair from 2000.
This pattern in Italy is very unusually and I love very much the unusually things.
So I love so much dapple and piebald pattern.
I've purchased 2 lovely dapple choco girls and I wish to buy as soon as possible a mini dapple choco boy and 2 (a boy and a girl) mini piebald.

In Italy and all Europe the piebald pattern can' t have a pedigree and I think this is a stupid thing because they are very beautiful

So I cry with all you: "SAVE THE PIEBALD!!!!!!!!!!"

I agree, AKC and DCA should recognize all coat patterns for Dachshunds. Confirmation, Soundness and Temperament are the most important qualities and if a good dog has these positive qualities, then it doesn't matter what color he/she is.

I have a sweet long haired black and tan piebald I bought from Paragon Kennels.
Her name is Minnie Pearl. I saw her photo when she was 6 days old and I was in love. It was the piebald. I would love to sign the petition.

How can you not recognize this pattern?
To me it is the most beautiful and most unique of all the patterns.
As so many others have said it doesn't have anything to do with the health or quality of the animal. Weather it has one spot or many it is a beautiful pattern!

Could you really not recognize this face?

and she is the most sweetest and loving dog.
She is just plane Beautiful. I absolutely LOVE her!
I think people need to educated on the Piebald,
I am tired of people telling me that Pennie is not a dachshund because
''They don't make them that way".

Ginger is one of the sweetest and spunkiest dogs that has ever been a part of our family! I cannot imagine life without her. It's hard to believe that she isn't "on par" with the rest of the Dachshund colors. At first, due to her unusual color, we thought that Ginger was a mixed breed of some kind. Imagine our shock when we took her to the vet and they told us that she was more than likely a purebred Dachshund! If we get the word out that Piebalds are beautiful and amazing dogs, then this kind of thing will not happen anymore! Go piebalds!
