I would like to thank you for starting this petition and website. I do not think it is right for the DCA and AKC to not allow piebalds in the show ring. I hope that your effort is successful in bringing to their attention that there are many dachshund lovers who do not agree with them.
Thanks again and God Bless--

I think piebalds are a wonderful natural coloration and expression of our breed. Discriminating against them based on color is no different than us discriminating against a person based on their skin color. Stop this prejudice! Piebalds can have great conformation, so do not be so color blind.

The main reason that I love dachshunds is because there are so many different varieties. I own six dachshunds and they are all different. Doing away with the piebald is like doing away with a dapple. Just because they are different doesn’t mean they are wrong. KEEP THE PIEBALD!!!

The piebald's coat of many colors is as beautiful as the one Jacob made for his son, Joseph - whose role in the history of ancient Israel was vital. And so it is also that the piebald is a vital part of the history of the Dachshund. Please save the piebalds! They are no less a Dachshund because of their colorful coats than any other color Doxie... a longdog is a longdog!

Piebalds are just as much a part of the breed as dapples, brindles and solids. It does not take away from their nature to hunt nor their conformation. It is just another beautiful pattern to add to the variety of this gorgeous breed.

I think they are beautiful and I don't think the AKC should be trying to do this as they are full blooded dachshunds, kinda prejudice if you ask me.

Good breeding - according to the dachshund standard for conformation and temperament should include all patterns - especially Piebalds! This beautiful pattern should be allowed to compete and WIN in the AKC show ring! I am a proud breeder of the Piebald pattern!

I would like to sign your petition. Here are some pictures of my gorgeous long-haired white female dachshund, Lana, with her beautiful red freckles and red ears..... an agility queen too. She has the most loving personality and AKC all the way 4 generations. She is my heart, she is so beautiful. What are these people thinking? It must be green-eyed jealousy to try to eliminate these magnificent dogs.

I have long considered purchasing a longhair or wire piebald for my breeding program. I can’t understand what coat pattern or color has to do with function, conformation, agility or any other AKC competitive/show quality or performance. These dogs are still Dachshunds in every sense of the breed standards. My opinion is this; if the AKC seeks to exclude this pattern from the standard they will only cause them to become more sought after and people will demand full registration! Let the AKC know that we intend to fight this decision and we intend to WIN!!! Let’s SAVE the Piebalds!!!

I will gladly sign the petition. As a breeder of Miniature Dachshunds, I love the Piebalds. I have seen a huge increase in demand for the Pie's over the last 2 years. Everyone loves them, including me!!! Dachshunds have more colors & patterns than any other breed recognized by AKC, why single out the Piebald Pattern, are they going to start on Dapples next?

I don't have a pie baby but my Reese's mommy is one. Pie is a beautiful pattern and it shouldn't be excluded. Why should a color be excluded on that basis alone? If a dog can do what it was bred to do, then color shouldn't matter.

I don't own a piebald but I hope to have some pie pups next year. Confirmation is just that, confirmation. The judging should not be based on size/color/pattern/coat type but on structure alone. If there are no health risks involved, why not? I attached pics of my piebald carriers. :D

I can not believe they would do such a thing. I fell in love with the red pies the first time I saw them and I searched for months until I found my perfect little pie Katie. She's such a doll baby and so beautiful. She's like another child to me. Please do NOT allow them to take the pies out of the competition.
Thanks so much!

PIEBALDS ARE BEAUTIFUL, PIEBALDS ARE HEALTHY. IF THEY WOULD WANT TO
DO SOMETHING TO BETTER THE BREED, STOP ALLOWING DOUBLE DAPPLES WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR BLIND & DEAF PUPS! I MAKE A BEAUTIFUL PIE-DAPPLE, WITH NO FEARS OF DEFECTS. SOON EXPECTING PIE-BRINDLES. MAYBE IF ALL BREEDERS STOPPED REGISTERING THEIR PET SALES, AKC WOULD FEEL EVEN MORE OF A PINCH, & DO AS THE MASSES DESIRE. AKC HAS LOST SO MUCH BUSINESS BECAUSE OF APRI, & ACA REGISTRATIONS, YOU'D THINK THEY WOULD WANT TO CONTINUE TO MAKE THOSE THAT STILL PAY THEIR BILLS, HAPPY! THANKS

Piebalds are so unique & beautiful!!
It would be terrible to discriminate based on color.
All doxie shapes, sizes and colors should be hailed for the benefit of the breed!!

I love the piebald dachshunds. I think they show beautifully w/ their variety of colors and markings. Why change what has been the standard and allowed? There are so many that prefer the piebald. Doesn't that say something for the demand and the need for them to remain in the show ring? Piebalds are an awesome representation of a "hound." We see the markings on basset hounds, and others. I'm not sure how this whole elimination of the piebald started, but I'm all for putting a stop to it. I'm also worried if this will end with the just removal of the piebald or if this witch hunt will continue to the future removal of dapples and other markings/colors as well.
