My pie is only 2 weeks old and she is a beauty. Her mama is also a beauty with a wonderful, loving personality. I specifically went looking for a pibald because of thier unusual coloring. What does color have to do with conformation, intelligence, or plain old Dachsie personality? Not so much, I'm thinking. So what's the problem? Keep the piebald...it's only a color.

We would like to see the piebald dachshund remain as an accepted color for dachshund registry. We presently do not own a dachshund but have in the past. They are delightful.

I have had dachshunds in my family since I was a kid. Right now between my ex-husband and I, we have 6 dachshunds. Ours are black/tan and red. We breed our female about once every 18 months. I plan on breeding her next time with a piebald. I think they are just beautiful! It should not make any difference what color the dachshunds are. The more color variations they have the more beautiful they become. They should be judged on their confirmation not their color.

The Piebalds should be kept in the AKC because they add just another feature of this wonderful dog!

We have two wonderful dachshunds and although we don’t breed or show them feel very strongly that they are WRONG in this decision to dismiss the Piebald. A breed is a breed no matter the coloring!

Hi, I am writing to add mine and my husband Eric's signatures to the "save the piebald" petition. We just recently became first time owners of an adorable mini Dachshund we named Jasper Jax. He's 3 1/2 months old and we totally adore him! While he is not a Piebald, he's a black and tan, we have seen pictures of the Piebalds and think they are beautiful. Why would you not want to include them as part of Dachshund AKC? We have 2 Basset Hounds in addition to our new "baby" Jasper and they are tri-colored, basically like a Piebald and they are wonderful. We would like to cast 2 votes to continue the Piebalds!

I Sandee Wilson think piebald are very beautiful I owned one but a very nice lady really love her so I gave her to a good home as she could spend more time with her. She had a pattern that was remarkable and one of a kind. I vote yes!
Any more question I would be happy to address!!!

I own two dapples. Are they next in being eliminated from the breed standard? What could be more "hound" then the piebald? The emphasis should be on sound breeding not eliminating the pattern all together from the standard. There just isn't good reasoning behind eliminating the piebald pattern.

I see no reason that the Piebald should not be included in the standard. There are NO known health problems that come from this pattern that I'm aware of so why not include it? What does Color or pattern have to do with the overall quality of a Doxie? NONE, a good Doxie is a good Doxie regardless of Color or pattern. I'm not a breeder yet but will be getting my first show pup soon, and hope to add Piebalds to my program in the future if I decide to breed.
Please include the Piebald in the standard.
