I am truly appalled at the fact that the DCA and AKC would even consider removing the piebald pattern from the show standard. Let alone actually disqualifying a dog who obviously deserved to be at a show due to gorgeous conformation. Conformation shows are exactly that... to determine good "breeding stock" by grading the structure of the dog. Bone structure and stance has absolutely NOTHING to do with a dog's coat color or pattern. We, and our customers, absolutely LOVE the piebald pattern, and our piebalds are the first to go to new homes because of it. They're beautiful and unique! We have produced, and have seen other breeders produce outstanding dachshunds in the piebald pattern. I hope this petition shakes the DCA and AKC up, and makes them re-think this quick, irrational, and obviously not well thought out decision.

Don't hate piebald's just because their beautiful !!!! Save the piebald's and don't discriminate from their beautiful markings and beautiful disposition. We choose to not be prejudice against beauty...

Please save the Piebalds. They are so beautiful and should be recognized by the AKC and DCA as a breed standard.

I think the Piebald pattern is beautiful. If you read the rules and regulations for the AKC registry I do not think color pattern is mentioned.
 

I vote to keep the piebald breed of dachshunds. Their markings are beautiful. Although I do not own one, when I do decide to buy, I personally would choose the piebald. Thank you!

How could AKC consider eliminating the piebald pattern? The piebald pattern is incredibly popular and beautiful. If AKC can make certain crossbreeds of other dogs allowed for registration, then there is no reason for a legit pattern of dachshund to be disallowed for registration. Also, some of my piebalds have the nicest conformation, gate, and personality. They should be allowed to show also.
 

I want to save the piebalds because they are fun lovin little guys and we love them.

If it were not for Choppers Mother I do not think he would have turned out so cute!, Chopper's Mother is a Piebald, and Chopper has white on his chest.
And all I know is that he is my little lover boy!!!
 
    

It is my opinion that the piebalds are being done an injustice because they are simply a different combination of color. They should be allowed to compete.

"Pie's" are perfect! Please keep them in the Ring and our World!

Piebalds are active, loving Dachshunds. Just because their color may be different does not mean they do not portray the same wonderful characteristics (both physical and inside) of any other Dachshund.

Please don't eliminate this pattern. It is so unique and does
nothing to change the quality of the breed.

I don't have a piebald, I have a Miniature Black and Red Longhaired Doxie. To me a Doxie is a Doxie, Piebald, Black and Red, Red, Cream. They are still a doxie.

Love Dachshunds any way they come.
 

How arrogant the letter from the DCA sounded. How dare they arbitrarily make a decision to exclude the patterned dachshunds? The patterned dachshunds represent the history of the breed and frankly as many hounds carry a pattern, it more closely resembles the hound group. They are a working breed and their color has exactly nothing to do with the work they do. How can the DCA not include these fine examples of the breed from our ranks? I hope this can be reversed. Thanks you!

What makes the Piebald any less Dachshund than all others? These are beautiful dogs that should not be discriminated against based on appearance. Come on now people!!! Let's wake up and do the right thing. SAVE THE PIEBALDS!!!

Please save the Piebalds. We have one and love him as much as the first one we had, and will love the next one as much!

Pround owner of several pie carriers! I love this pattern, it is one of my favs and I hope to produce some very soon to add to my breeding program. I think the AKC and DCA should concentrate on the health problems of double dapples instead of eliminating a healthy, sound, beautiful piebald!!

We've had Doxies for almost 40 years and the traits of Piebalds are no different that the traits of reds. Maybe a discrimination suit is in order. Keep the piebalds on the show floor. Ours generates interests and comments where ever we take her, even to a all Doxie fun event where many people have never seen a piebald.
