We have a dapple, but I just love the piebald pattern,
no reason it should be any different from the rest.

I don't understand why they would want to take a part of history out of the breed. This should be in the standards just as the other patterns are and colors. To me they are just as beautiful and great as any other dachshund.
Please save the beautiful pattern!

I have 2 dachshunds one red and the other piebald. They are both incredible dogs. We think are 2nd, the piebald is every bit a dachshund as much as the first.

Save the Piebalds!
Reason: They are beautiful dogs,
and IMHO placing more restrictions on the breed will shrink the gene pool.

I had two male black and tan piebald dachshunds. I agree that piebalds should be allowed to be shown.

I fell in love right away with my feisty puppy named Punky!
She was just adorable and the coloring was just amazing.
She's the 2nd doxie I've owned and I'll never go back to another breed.
I never heard of piebald before Punky.
Now I take great pride in telling people she's not JUST a doxie, she's a PIEBALD!

I have a piebald Doxie and she is the best thing ever. She is so beautiful and loving. We should save the Piebald Dachshunds because they are such beautiful colors and are the same as any other color Dachshund.
Take a look at her pic and tell my we shouldn't keep this breed.
Thanks Kelly and Bella

I can't believe that this is happening to the Piebalds!
I love them and raise them - they are all my pets -
and will continue to promote them!
They are the "Sport Models" of the breed!
I'd like to know who decided that they were no longer "acceptable".

I would like to sign your petition. This is ridiculous. The piebalds do not carry the blind or deaf gene. There is no reason that this color should be deleted from registration. Before they decide that something is undesirable they should have their facts in order. White is not the problem. It is the blue merle gene of the dapple. This is not even a problem if you do not breed 2 dapples together. If their arguments is that people are not bright enough not to do this then they are again assuming to much control upon themselves. The information is out there. The Australian shepherd breeders have been dealing with it for years. If you can't do it right then that is not for an association to control. People breed brother to sister, mother to son, father to daughter and this is not an unregisterable animal. We all know it produces weaker animals and those of us who care do not do it. Piebalds are a great little dogs and there is nothing wrong ,weak or defective about the gene that produces it.

If the temperament, size and conformation of the Dachshund is correct---there is no reason to exclude the Piebalds.
They are beautiful and should not be discriminated against.

There is nothing cuter than a piebald!
Our little man Gus is the life of the party and makes the ladies go crazy!

If anything needs to be regulated it is breeding standards, not that the Piebalds are an inferior breed. They are amazing in their individuality.

I am the proud owner of a beautiful piebald dachshund. I was appalled to learn that this interesting and very appealing color pattern is being excluded from the breed. What does color and pattern have to do with form and function? A grave injustice is being carried out and it shouldn't be allowed to continue. Save the piebalds because they are purebred dachshunds too. Since I have had my piebald, I have had many people tell me that they had never seen such a beautiful puppy with such an interesting pattern. The dachshund breed has generated a lot of interest because of the beautiful piebalds.

I am a piebald owner and my gal just had the most gorgeous pups, 1 male 1 female, alabaster white, both Carry for longhair and wire! They are so beautiful and complimentary with wonderful affectionate personalities. They have classic dachsie lines and their colors are an IMPROVEMENT TO THE BREED. They are so showy next to my red and brown dachsies…. I am blessed to have them.

I can't help but feel that the few DCA members that pushed for this change did so because they didn't want to have to compete against the flashier pie Doxies! Just my opinion, but it seems to be the only logical explanation! Pie Doxies are just as smart and healthy as any other Doxie! I do not own a pie at this time, but have several that carry the pie gene. I have had pie pups born from a black and tan mom and a brindle dad! How can they be any less a Dachshund than their solid colored siblings? I want to thank you for all Doxie breeders and lovers out there! I hope you can find a way to make the AKC see the error of their ways. Until then I will continue to love, raise and show my dogws with APRI. They have kept pie in their official colors! These pictures are of the two pie pups I had from the litter I mentioned.

YES! Piebalds are so pretty! I have had several creme piebalds and think it would be horrible if they were excluded from competition or being part of the standard. I personally like them better than the brindle which looks like a rusty brillo pad. Just think of the pie as a spread out dapple pattern. Even the black and tan has "spots". My Piebalds are definitely constructed as well as any other dachshund and could have shown and won based on their conformation. I happen to love their individual spots. Please keep the piebalds!!

I had a piebald recently that passed away. She was one of the finest and smartest dachshunds I have every owned, and I have had dachshunds all my life as pets. The piebald color pattern is good for the breed. It will provide other colors for interested people to continue the excellent dachshund breed. I currently have a black and tan female and a chocolate and red female. I still look around from time to time for another piebald.

We have Piebald Teddy Roosevelt Terriers
we love this pattern, I could not imagine giving up a color pattern in a breed!
We also raise Blue and Fawn min Pins, we worked hard to keep these colors going
and now they are in the UKC ring! THEY wanted to do away with those colors as well! Keep this going and a squeaky wheel gets more OIL!

We have two dachshunds. One is a piebald and one carries the piebald gene. We love them so much and they draw attention everywhere we go. Phoebe is the dog pictured here. She was rescued from a bad breeder and has been a loving part of our family ever since! She is absolutely 100% doxie, from form to temperament. Thanks for creating this petition! And long live the Pies!

They have beautiful markings.

We would like to be apart of your petition. We believe that the Piebald color is beautiful. Anyone who may have a problem with excepting the piebald as a new color standard is probably just apposed to new things in general. The piebald is a beautiful color. Everywhere we take our Shorty, a chocolate and tan piebald, we are stopped by people to tell us how unique and beautiful he is.
He is our dog, our companion, our children's playmate, our protector, and a member of the family. We love him and his coloring!
Wishing you lots of luck,
The Thomas Family
