Having owned a black and tan, a red, and a silver
dappled dachshund, we now own a two piebald dachshunds. I love the different
coats, and colors that all the dogs, have, but the piebalds bring even more
great attention to the breed. I can understand the purity of the breed
argument, but seems to me that the popularity would also matter. We can't go
anywhere that people won't stop us and ask us about them.

I LOVE the piebalds - Little Nell, on the left, is
my first pie, and her coloring is fantastic. I see no reason to bar them; if
you are going to do that, why not also bar the dapples, brindles, etc. etc.
LEAVE THEM ALONE - they're adorable!!

I love my little piebald Indiana so much. He's my
second dachshund and he is most definitely a DACHSHUND. He is unique and we
are constantly told how beautiful he is, not to mention that he is the
sweetest, most loving little guy. Please count me, my husband, and most
definitely Indy as PRO-PIE!

I have 2 red pies, 2 blk/tan, and 1 choc/tan. I
love them all the same. The pie is just a color. They are not a poor bred
dachshund. My 2 pies are just as healthy and wonderful as any dachshund.
Keep the pies. I love the pattern and sure will have more in the future.

Piebald is no different than black and tan or any
other color/pattern. The color of the coat has nothing to do with
performance or confirmation. Are they going to say all Beagles must have the
same markings? Get your act together AKC or you're going to rule and
regulation yourself out of existence. We aren't going to stand back and let
you run all over us.

I think that piebald’s should be part of the AKC
standard. They are dachshunds too! My Pie Buster, is the most doxiest of all
my doxies!

I would like to sign the petition to save the piebalds. I do not own a piebald but I have had dachshunds in my home and my life for over 25 years. We LOVE them - and to me the piebald is another color of a wonderful breed - why should they be discriminated against? Because they are beautiful? Because they have different colorations? I think these are pluses as opposed to minuses! |

We have four miniature dachshunds, none of which
are piebalds. But that doesn't mean that we wouldn't welcome one into our
home, to join our pack! The color of their fur isn't why we love them, what
gives them their personality, or even determines their ability to perform.
If you have a treat, do they not beg? Piebalds are beautiful, and should be
able to show that beauty with the rest of the breed!!

L.B. is my first Piebald, and I can tell you that
these pictures don't do him justice. He is absolutely beautiful, as I feel
all piebalds are. Since when does a dog's color determine if he can do all
the things he was bred to do? If the world was meant to not have piebald,
dapple, or brindle dachshunds, there wouldn't be any. Our society has been
taught not to discriminate against a person because of race, shouldn't this
also ring true for dogs? My dog has so many wonderful abilities and traits,
which are neither hindered nor excelled by his pattern. This whole notion is
just ridiculous. If you ask me, L.B.'s piebald pattern is just an added
bonus to this incredible little dog! Please save the piebalds!!!

I own and raise Dachshunds, and several of them
are piebalds. They are my favorite variety of dachshund!! Banning them from
the standard is a disgrace to the breed...they are just as important to the
future of the dachshund as any of the other colors/patterns. I hope that the
piebald community can change the minds of those responsible for dictating
what *makes* a true dachshund!
