I have a male black and tan piebald that I just got about 3 months ago. My family has many other dachshunds and he's no different than them. This little fella, Rudy, is my heart. We have such a strong bond that I can't imagine my life without him. I can't image why they want to take them out of the standard. Please save them! They're no different than the rest!

I absolutely love my Sophie. She is very loyal and is a social butterfly. When I read this I couldn't believe people were actually considering to not breed them anymore. I was just introduced to this breed when I got Sophie in December 2007. I get compliments on her all the time, people can't believe she's a dachshund!

We love our piebald and he is AKC registered. I believe if you can register
them then they should also be recognized as a standard. They sure take our
money when we register them and their litters. Come on now fair is fair.
Thanks for allowing me to become involved in this matter. Would be willing
to do anything to help the situation. Thanks again!

I can't imagine why there is even a discussion about "Saving the Piebalds". How dare anyone in today's society even consider such a stupid (excuse the word, but nothing else said it better) thought. What a beautiful gift of color to the breed, the interest it has added and the joy that these delightful gifts of God have brought to us who own them. Judges - Judge not for you too will be Judged!
Acknowledge the Piebalds for the champs that they are.

I have two piebald's! Mother and Son!
We cannot let them say that they are not a Dachshund breed that is so wrong.
Our lives would not have the Love and Joy that it has now if not for our to piebald's. We are soon adding a little girl to our family that is black tan and white her name is going to be Moose's Little Dream Emma. Emma for short.
SAVE THE PIEBALD! Thank You

My family and I know 2 doxies unfortunately no piebald's. We are looking forward to adding one of these beautiful dogs to our family soon. They should not be turned away just because they are different and so BEAUTIFUL. If you disallow this line from your standards then YOU ARE MORE RACIST THEN ANYONE BECAUSE OF COLOR. Are you going to disallow others based on color? ITS NOT RIGHT

I am outraged to read that the AKC and others want out Ban the Piebald from the show rings. If a dachshund meets all the qualifying requirements IT SHOULD NOT be thrown out like trash because of its coloring.
I have friends that have these beautiful dogs and the are the best everyone that meets them fell in love with them at first sight if I could have these dogs were I live you bet we sweet bootie I would have one of them.
I will boycott all Kennel Clubs that ban this dog JUST BECAUSE IF ITS COLOR.

The piebald does not have any health issues that the other colors of the dachshunds don't have WITH the proper breeding. NO matter what the markings are if you INBRED YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS. DO NOT BLAME THE POOR PIEBALD FOR THE MISTAKES OF HUMANS. IT WILL BE A GREAT INJUSTICE TO DISALLOW PIEBALDS BECAUSE OF IGNORANCE. LOVE THE PIEBALDS I SURE DO.

I definitely think that the piebalds should receive recognition. I own three dachshunds, a black and tan, a red, and a piebald mini. My little piebald girl is gorgeous, and she has her own great personality, and is just one more in the Dachshund gang. They each have their very own personalities, but are still the same in their dachshund ways. So, all in all, I love my piebald, and if anyone doesn't, they need to spend time with one, or they're just crazy.

My wife and I have been the very proud owners of 5 mini-Dachshunds over the
past 36 years, including a red, a beautiful (and rare) brindle, black and
tan, chocolate, and, the latest addition to our Dachshund family, a
mini-chocolate and tan Piebald.

My wife asked me to do a bit of research on Tippie's origins, and, to put it
mildly, I was SHOCKED to find the AKC and DCA have excluded Piebalds from
competition.

Needless to say, both my wife and I believe this to be a TOTAL injustice,
and believe and request the decision be reversed immediately. Thanks,

I am currently studying for a final exam with my Black/Tan Piebald little boy named Barney in my lap. He is registered with the AKC as "Barney Bartleby Jones Clark" and he will be a year old on January 26th. He is a complete joy! I got in touch with a breeder called Double C Dachshunds (www.doublecdachshunds.com) from Newburgh, NY and was asked them to put me on a waitlist for a long-haired pup. However, when I saw "Barney" I totally fell in love and here we are! He is the smartest little guy in the world (of course I am a bit biased) and my boyfriend Pearce loves him AND our two cats Chuck & Betty. My parents even adored Barney SO much they waited over a year to get a piebald pup from the same dam and sire who whelped Barney! Barney's brother's name is Fender and he is also a bundle of joy! Over the year, both my mother and I have been put in the newspaper with Barney and Fender three times because they are so friendly! Barney and Fender are both smart, healthy, beautiful specimens and living proof that piebalds should certainly be shown equal recognition and respect!
I found your website really interesting and think it's really great that you've got this petition going!

The first photo is of Barney when he was just 8weeks old.
Also a pic of Barney and Chuck taken just a week ago.
They were napping together on the couch!
