Piebald Dachshunds are just as much a breed as the dapples and all the other color Dachshunds. People come in all different colors and we consider them people, dogs are no different!! They all have the genetics of Dachshunds but they just have a different phenotype, that doesn't make them any less of a Dachshund!

I can't understand why any organization would want to ban a trait
such as the piebald gene when it has only added more interest from
the world in general towards purchasing and owning a wonderful,
miniature dachshund! Many of my current clients adore the piebald
colors! I adore the piebald colors! With a color pattern that has
established itself as a reliable counterpart to other wonderful
colors in our dachshund breed, why would we choose to discriminate
this color and exclude it over other colors and gene traits? The dog
performs the same! We have to remain focused on the 'dog' and what it
has to offer our world with their love and affection towards their
owners! And if that 'love' comes in a different color other than the
standard colors, then SO BE IT!

I want to add my name to the Petition
I am a breeder of the Piebald Dachshunds and passionately feel that color should NOT be a deciding factor for the breed standard.
Thank you, Barbara

I breed Paint Horses (and Piebald Doxies) and it sure would be a
shame if Paint Breeders had to deal with color prejudice. The Piebald
pattern in the Dachshunds comes from a long way back. The AKC
recognized the color pattern in the 30's (if my research proves
correct)...Why the discrimination now??? They are much more
genetically sound than some of the other "acceptable" colors.
DON'T DISCRIMINATE!!!!!!

I do not own my own piebalds I do own a multicolored Dachshund and she does carry in her line the piebald white mark under her chin and can have offspring with this color. My husband would love for us to own one oneday and I plan to. This is her @ 6 weeks.

There is absolutely no reason to discriminate against piebald. Stopping people from showing them in the show ring is wrong. The color has nothing the function of the dog. The color or pattern is just that, if the dog has good conformation it really does not matter what color or pattern it is. And picking one pattern out and disallowing it from the ring, is just wrong.
This is our miniature Piebald, Olive.

I think Piebalds are a gorgeous! Since the pattern doesn't impact health, temperament, or ability to go to ground and pursue quarry, it seems rather arbitrary to deem the pattern a cause for disqualification. More so when dachshunds are celebrated for their immense variety, between coat type, color and patterning. ARBITRARY seems the right word for this silly exclusion. My love to the piebalds and all the other doxies - we know you are all beautiful!

I don't have any dogs at the present time, but I love them all and truly appreciate the variety of each breed. Eliminating the piebald pattern is like eliminating bing cherries from the cherry family! If you eliminate the piebald pattern from the dachsies, then it should be eliminated in all breeds. Now, doesn't that seem quite ridiculous and just downright unfair? Piebalds are beautiful, after all!

Why are they kicking piebalds out? Is it that they are jealous? That piebalds are so beautiful that their dogs can't compare? I say let them stay!!!

Here is a picture of our Piebald, "Blk Holes N The Name of Justice"

This is Justice at a UKC show. The judge is John Davidson. He is also an AKC judge. He said she is a beautiful dog. She is only 10 months old and in her first heat so I'm not showing her AKC for a while, butI am showing her in a UKC show in November. As soon as her coat comes back in she will be back in the AKC ring. I will not let the bad apples out there tell me my dog is any less a Dachshund than theirs. By the way I did show her at the summer Classic in OKC , and she won her class 3 of the 4 days. She may have been the only one in it, but she won, and didn't get kicked out !!!!!! .Day 1, the Piebald before me did, so I didn't show on that day. The judge that said he wouldn't judge a piebald was Steven D Gladstone.
Thank you, Jeri and Justice

The piebald pattern has been a part of the Dachshund breed for many, many years... and will continue to be a part of this colorful breed. It is the DCA we must change. AKC is simply a dog registry and they try to follow the standard that the DCA provides.
