I have been helping my mother raise dachshunds
for 20 years. I remember seeing pictures of piebalds from the 1800's
in her books on the breed. You cannot tell me that piebald is not a
naturally occurring color. What will happen to these dogs should the
color be eliminated from the registry, show ring, or breed? There was
a similar problem with solid color paint stock horses , The American
Paint Horse Association decided on the right thing and included the
solids along with their more colorful counterparts. This colorful
representative of the dachshund breed should also be included.

Some of the most beautiful dachshunds that I have seen sport the Piebald pattern. Please don't shun these beautiful dachshunds. Keep Piebalds in the ring!

I myself do not own a piebald, but I do own two doxies. I think the piebald color is beautiful, and there is no reason why it should be taken away from the breed. How can anyone look at the piebald color and not think it beautiful?

My family has a black and white piebald and he is such a special and important part of our family. Every time he meets someone new, we are always asked about his colors and markings. People think he's adorable and, of course, so do we!

We love the dachshunds, and could not imagine not having our Parker.
That is so bad to discriminate based on color.
SAVE THE PIEBALDS!!!

Save the Piebalds??? Why???? Because they are beautiful and unique dachshunds! Just about every time we walk our two pies, we get stopped on the walking trail by people complimenting our dachshund guys! They always ask what kind of dogs they are and often say they have never seen dachshunds like them. Save the piebalds; they have such unique color patterns and markings!!
We can't even begin to imagine our household without our two pies, Tigger and Taz!

This little girl will enter the show ring in the really spring.
The Piebald is one of the oldest colors and a hound color so don't know what all the to do is about. I think as long as the dog is of good quality it should be judge the same.

The piebald color used to be associated with poor breeding and conformation. There are many breeders who have worked for 10+ years to produce a show quality piebald dachshund. We now have a new standard for piebald and there are some very nice pies, true to the standard available. The answer is not to delete a color from our registry but to crack down on breeders who don't care about the quality of dogs that they breed. There are some really poor red and b/tn doxies to be found. Should we delete these colors also? If they are looking to improve the breed then the answer is not a color reduction but a new standard for only breeding doxies with great temperament and conformation!

I am a firm believer that the piebalds should be saved based on diversity in the USA. Who are these judges to say that this particular breed is not worthy?! As I see it, the piebalds are a beautiful dog. I would put them right up with any basset hound or beagle.
The pattern of their coat doesn't make them less of a dachshund champion!

The piebalds are a recessive gene, but a dachshund is
a dachshund no matter the color or pattern.

I have always thought that the DCA was the parent club for Dachshunds, now I think they are only there to represent the few people that are getting beat in the show ring by piebald dachshunds. This club should stand for the rights of Dachshund owners everywhere in and out of the show ring, and by doing so, should stand up for the rights of all patterns. I have another question for the DCA, why does the DCA get to decide what pattern is acceptable, when they will not allow the rest of us to join "their" club unless we show your dogs and know someone already in the club to give you a reference to get you in? And by that rule "WE" are kept from voting on their so called elections!!!
Yet they are the voice for all of US?? I think not!!! This Petition is great because we finally get our voice heard.....So let me say it loud and clear so you can hear us..... AKC you have to hear all the people!!! We want to save the piebalds and we want all rights available to the piebalds just like any other colors and patterns!!!
