Good morning. I would like to sign the petition to save the piebald dachshund. We have 4 piebalds and 1 carrier (he is a AKC champion). I have been excused from the show ring with our pie bitch. One judge gave her a 2nd. (she was the only one in the class) The judge said that if she was black and tan she would win anywhere. Last year at a benched show in Detroit she took a 4th in the puppy group. Both of her parents are AKC champions. We also have a male pie pup. Both his parents are also AKC champions. Now a group of people want them out. We also have a dapple bitch (AKC champion). Are the dapples and creams going to be next? Anyways, please add our name to the petition to save the piebald.

I believe piebalds should be able to do anything "regular" doxies can do. It is not "normal", it is a unique, rare breed of doxies that deserves every opportunity any other doxie has. "A rose by any other name would just as sweet smell." A doxie by any other color would still be a doxie. I am outraged that piebalds can't compete. Before I got my doxie, Toby I never knew piebalds existed. His father was one. I believe piebalds should be able to compete.

I love my piebald Bruno. He is full of energy and joy and he LOVES his toys. I would love to be able to show him but I can only do obedience with these rules. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t be allowed they are pure bred.

Piebald doesn't equate to being inferior in structure, ability, standard or health.
Discrimination of this type is not tolerated in any other society, why then, has it been tolerated in the canine society?
Vote for the Piebald, and all their beauty.

I love my piebald - I think they are unique and should be able to be shown.
This promotes more people to be interested in dachshunds

I don’t have piebald doxie (mine is black and tan), but I think it’s a crime to not allow these beautiful animals to compete. I had not heard of this problem and I am completely floored that the AKC has chosen to disregard a doxie because of its color. I hope my signature helps this cause.

I think it is completely Outrageous to think that someone can actually say that due to a difference of color, Piebalds are not equal. All dogs, like men, are created equal and should be treated as such! Just because your unique and different doesn't make you any less important.

I have a piebald and she is the a very loving dog. We also have a red long hair and a red smooth coat, all three are the best dogs we have ever had. We were always big dog people until Hunny (piebald) came along and we were hooked so we just kept adding, all of the dachshund are pet only, Hunny is the leader of the pack, we have Maggie and Hunter, they were considered misfits b/c maggie has a kink in the tip of her tail and hunter had a hernia, so we took the little misfits in to our home b/c we knew we would not breed them. I am angered that people want to keep piebalds out so we both are happy to sign your petition.

We feel that color should not matter, a dog is a dog, it is the temperament, the look, conformation and so on, a color does not change who they are as a DACHSHUND.

I own two piebalds myself and they are truly magnificent dogs. Great father and great mother. I have had no health problems out of them and I have had the father, Copper, since he was six weeks old. There is no problem in breeding and no problem in health. Why would the piebalds be out of AKC? I have to say this, just this as it's been on my mind. Most people make huge ordeals over racism, making no offence to anyone... but if you're throwing out this piebald, would it not be almost like being racist? Just a strange thing that I have been pondering on. The piebalds are truly great dogs and so beautiful. They are no problem and I think they deserve their chance. Have a heart? Then don't take out piebalds!

Hello, my name is “Harmony from the Wachtelnest”.
On behalf of my breeder and my family I'd like to say, that I'm happy to be a Piebald! I was born and live in Germany. My family is sick and tired of people asking what kind of a cute mix I am. Please make me official, so that I can walk my family proudly, Harmony

I would like to sign your petition.
I want to have the AKC continue to recognize piebalds in the Dachshund breed because the are beautiful animals. It also messes with many people's livelihoods to have that recognition taken away.

Lets here it for the piebalds!
A Great dog is a great dog regardless of color or pattern.
Lets face it, they are just a painted dachshund.
And they come with no lethal genes.
Piebald dachshunds are cool!

I think the piebald dachshunds are so gorgeously unique and should be allowed to show. Here is a pic of my dappled pie, Crystal.

I have a beautiful dachshund. I have written a children's book about mine. His name is George. I believe he will be famous some day. He is absolutely the greatest thing in my life. He is so beautiful, adorable, sweet and loving. This dog has changed my life. He has been on 19 cable stations. He should be allowed to be part of all dachshunds shows and should be allowed to be part of the Dachshund standard.

I can't understand the AKC's decision.
These dogs are beautiful, and when it all comes down to it,
a dachshund is a dachshund is a dachshund.
We have a dapple, and I think our next will be a piebald,
regardless of what the AKC, in it's not-so-infinite wisdom, rules.

Here's a photo of our beautiful dapple, Nanook, chasing a tennis ball.

Piebalds should be saved because they are all dachshund,
but very unique. They are smart and loyal and great fun!

We have a 1 year old male piebald doxie with some dappleing.
We chose him from the brown and tan doxies because of his uniqueness.
We love him and his spots.

In the Netherlands the Piebalds are unfortunately not in the standard :(
But I think they should be in the standard everywhere!! I don't (yet) have a Piebald myself but I sure do love the color! So: save the Piebalds!
