I cannot believe I have to defend the Piebald pattern in dachshunds! The Piebald pattern has been around for hundreds of years, and now some association wants to say that Piebalds are not good enough for the AKC shows?! I think the DCA needs further education on dachshunds! What will be next? Green eyes?
I VOTE TO SAVE THE PIEBALDS!

Piebalds can be such beautiful dachshunds, how can you not love this face?
Please don't eliminate them!

Piebalds should be saved because it's discrimination not to include them. There must be millions of this pattern in the dachshund family. If you exclude this pattern why not exclude wire haired, or long haired. Is there a good reason to exclude them? No.

The piebald pattern is a big part of our breeding stock. It would be heart breaking to do away with the beauty of this pattern.

Yes please include me in SAVE the piebald. A Dachshund is a Dachshund no matter what color. There love, heart, ability, etc is not in any way increased or diminished by color or patter. What an awful place this would be if all were judged on color and looks. I rest my case. Shouldn't the main concern be that the breed is kept good temperament, personality, and health?? I have several BEAUTIFUL Piebalds! Thank you Carole Lloyd

Who decided to ban the piebald's? What is wrong with those people? Is someone afraid of being out judged by a pie in the showering.  It is a breed standard, not a color that makes a doxie the hound they are. My doxies do not know what color they are and don't discriminate against my pie because he is a different color than they are (I happen to have a color variety and will continue to breed for ALL colors as the general public who are the ones who I cater to will the choices that they choose to have). Perhaps the AKC should take some of their spare time on this witch hunt and take some classes on the history of the Dachshund. There have been some great posts so far, let us band together and implement these ideas, the pies are a dachshund not a colorhound, get the chip off your shoulder and let the pie stay.

Diversity in this breed is one of the things that make it so special. I hope to some day own a Piebald and be able to show in AKC.

If a piebald is not a dachshund, then the AKC is a total fraud. I have owned Dachshunds for 20 years and my piebald is as much a dachshund as my dapple and my black and tan. So, AKC, get over it. If it looks like a dachshund, acts like a dachshund, and if breed out of a dachshund, then it is a dachshund.

I own 7 dachshunds and I love each and everyone of them. I don't own
piebald but I think they are the most beautiful of the breed. After all
piebald is the epitome of a hound coloring. Long live the Piebalds!

I Love All Dachshunds. I've been a breeder for 10 years, and like everyone else I feel color has nothing to do with conformation. Keep the Pies.

I love the piebald color. I think AKC is wrong. God made us all different. That's what makes pies so cool. No piebald looks like another one.
PLEASE SAVE THE PIEBALD!!!!

We have several beautiful piebald dachshunds, and our "pie" puppies are highly desired by the pet buyers ! Our conformation is great on our piebalds, and they have very dachshund temperaments, fit for being ground hounds. They are everything a dachshund should be, so there is NO reason to discriminate against any color or marking. If DCA or AKC is dumb enough to do so, they won't go away, but like the White German Shepherd Club, will just form their own club, and hold their own shows, and do their own registry. "Color" hating , is wrong, in any species.

I own 3 registered piebalds. I have shown my solid black longhair Pie, Li'l Smokey. When I first saw the distinctive markings I just had to have one. Since then I have learned more. It is my understanding that Piebalds and Dapples have been on the AKC's hit list in the past and that they have been banned before. When I showed Smokey last Spring judges offered comments like, "It will never win," or, "They allowed this dog to be shown?' They were considered "throw backs" for many, many years; decades ago they were routinely destroyed when they came out with the marking, which is one reason we don't often see them. I can't imagine anyone destroying spotty doxies! I am outraged that they would ban them from the ring. Don’t let them do this!

I am a soon- to- be new owner of a precious longhaired piebald. This
prejudice against color cannot be tolerated. Does the color of a
person have anything to do with their performance or worth? The
piebalds should have the same opportunity to compete in the show ring
as the other colors.

As proud mom to eleven dachshunds including seven piebalds and three that carry piebald I urge you to keep the piebald pattern. They are striking ambassadors for the breed!

What would our lives be without a bit of flash and splash. Piebalds are a safe way to get the white without a lethal gene. Why deny people this beauty.

To exclude piebalds after they have been a part of this breed, Championed, and are so extremely popular is ridiculous! They are a beautiful dog, healthy, sound and sought after. We need different leader ship in the Dachshund Club of America.

Beautiful doxies come in all colors, just like people. If you take piebalds out of the standard for doxies, they'll become difficult to find and they're so beautiful. Let's not exclude them just because of their color. If you do that, then you'll need to exclude the other colors of Spaniels as well. Come on! They can have beautiful
conformation, no matter what color they are.
WITH A DOXIE, WE CAN LICK ANYTHING!

I have several piebald's in my breeding program, and I will continue to raise and show my pies even if its NOT in the AKC show rings.. I am very surprised that AKC would want to exclude these beautiful specimens of Dachshunds from their rings and registry.... Piebald's are very popular and represent the breed of Dachshunds magnificently... It is my honor and privilege to represent the Piebald's, and I will continue to do so...
