I agree! There is no reason for this injustice to
the piebald dachshund. I am a breeder of doxies, & I own 2 piebalds &
several others of my 11 doxies, carry the piebald gene. This is totally
unfair. I have a very old book on dachshunds where the standard does
recognize the white background.

I want to save the piebald pattern
We love our Piebald Arabella! There is no reason
that piebalds shouldn't be included with the other color patterns of the
dachshund standard; why should they be discriminated against? Piebalds are
one of the most unique dachshund color patterns and show some of the true
originality of the breed. If there is no legitimate reason to not show
Piebalds as far as health issues, form, conformation etc. corresponding to
the piebald pattern (which there aren't)..then why shouldn't they be allowed
to show? They are equal to all of the other doxie patterns, and are truly an
asset. GO PIEBALDS!

These are our two piebalds. They are great dogs
and they are AKC registered. We plan on breeding them. Why and who in the
DCA and AKC has the right to discount them for their pattern? To my
knowledge, they have always been accepted and there have even been piebald
champions. They became champions for their conformity and ability, not their
pattern! I think there are more important issues to address such as dapples
and the congenital problems caused by their breeding. Or let's discuss
improper labeling of colors and patterns. For those that do not love the
piebalds, pick other dogs, but let us enjoy and share with others our love!
I think the piebald pattern is THE BEST! I will
never own another dachshund that is not a piebald. A piebald dachshund can
have correct conformation, just like the other patterns seen in the
dachshund breed.

We have been breeding Piebalds for seven years and have never even thought of adding a different pattern . Yes we want to see DCA vote the pattern into the AKC Standards.

I support all dachshunds and their proud companions. I find it indefensible that the piebald has been excluded as an acceptable standard. They are a beautiful representation of the breed.
