We love our piebald Sophi and wouldn't trade her spots, patches and freckles for all the show ribbons in the world, she is every bit as much a dachshund as our sable. SAVE THE PIEBALDS!
GO PIEBALDS!!!

They shouldn't be excluded just because of their color
they are still a lovable dachshund

I just recently adopted a Baby Boy black and tan piebald mini long haired dachshund. His name is Bocce. I don't have any pics of him on this computer yet.
If piebalds are excluded from AKC, then dapples, brindles and any other pattern should be excluded. What is the difference? Patterns are patterns. Piebalds are piebalds are patterns. You either include all or none!!! Of course, this is considering that the animals are bred without chances of defects such as the double dapples. If the breeding of a pattern creates birth defects then the pattern shouldn't be allowed.

Everyday I get asked what type of dog is Jasper. People are not familiar with piebalds. The reason for this is the AKC. Piebalds are the best. I get lots of compliments on how handsome he is. I wouldn't settle for any other kind.

Help Save the Piebalds!

I live with 8 dogs and 9 cats. 5 of those dogs are dachshunds and one very lovely little lady is my red piebald named Molly Peppermintpattypaws.

I don't know where people got the notion that piebalds are to be denied their recognition as more then likely given the history of the breed, the piebald would have been more commonplace then the other more modern colorations.

Give the beautiful piebalds their dues and add them to the acceptable patterns! No dachsie discrimination!
Thank you,
Karen

Piebalds are Dachshunds, too!!!

We love our piebald little dachshund Reba and the piebald pattern!
It should be included in the AKC.

We love our piebald, Chloe! She is beautiful! We don't see why they can't be considered as part of the dachshund standard! It's unfair! What difference does it make to exclude piebalds? Their coloring does not in any way hurt them - it only makes them more unique!

I have had dachshunds for years and I find the piebalds an adorable addition to the breed and they are a big part of the dachshund breed.
They deserve the respect and admiration of the AKC and the love of all.

I am so upset to see for the new year they took away the piebald code!!!! and yet there is a code for double dapples!!!! how do we register these pups..are they expecting us not to breed them when they are so popular... they are purebreds and deserved their papers too.. its ridiculous!!!!

We do not own a piebald, but yes they are dachshunds too!! We have had 2 mini long hair dachshund and are currently waiting on another one which will be ready to come come on 01/17/09. I do not quite understand why the DCA & AKC want to eliminate them from competition. They are beautiful dogs!! And for the reasoning of eliminating them (in my opinion) is completely one of the most absurd reasons. Hopefully this petition will help. Good Luck Piebalds!! You are loved too!!!! :)

I do not own a piebald but I or any one else should continue to own and breed any color dachshund that we have for years and it has been excepted.

I think the Piebald should be saved because it is a color of the Dachshund and there is no reason for it to be taken off of the breed standard! Piebald is a beautiful Doxie color and it should definitely stay!

We love Tank and Callie. We have several friends that have the more traditional colors on their dachshunds. You can tell Tank and Callie are the envy of all.

As a hunter I understand the need for large amounts of white in dogs used in the pursuit of game (it prevents injury if the dog is easily spotted), and it seems natural that doxies should have variations on white themes since they were originally intended for the pursuit. Since the Dapple coloring has negative side effects, I think Piebald coloring is the answer!

I had my first litter of Dachshunds on 1/19/2009 it was a very hard delivery for both Mom and Me. She was a female I rescued from someone and I had no clue she was pregnant, she was unable to walk when I got her because of the excess weight which I found out was from a litter of 6 puppies. When she did go into labor she was rushed to the vet because she was not pushing, I was in the room while all six puppies were delivered via C-section.4 blue and tan and 2 piebalds. Mom was spayed right away because of a ruptured uterus, and I was sent home with 6 little bundles of joy. I believe with all the circumstances the mother had to deal with all of these babies are miracle babies, but I would consider it a disgrace to consider one of them any less then that because of his markings. They are such Beautiful dogs. The pattern is so unique, that is why I believe in saving the piebalds, and I can assure if everything goes well, he will be added as one of my breeders.
Hooray piebalds.
Thanks Courtenay

Save the Piebalds!
Many times strangers have stopped me to comment on how beautiful my dog’s markings are. It would be a shame for piebald’s to lose recognition.

In checking out other piebald pups, I came across your site.
The AKC should certainly recognize them
and set them at a higher standard in our eyes.
We will gladly consider this a signing of your petition.
